Ask HN: Dynamic Screen Recorder for SaaS?
Does anyone know of any screen recorder / video production tool that allows for easy change or "swapout" of the screen part at a later date?
The use case is for help videos for our SaaS product, which can be quickly updated when we introduce a new feature or module. Specifically the visuals, and not the voiceover or script necessarily.
I'm not sure if such a thing exists, but our product changes so often that recording and re-recording help videos takes a lot of time and effort.
If it exists, I'm picturing screenrecording our product in a "frame", with intro, outro and other artifacts (subtitles, for example or a presenter's avatar) sat on top, such that the "frame" can be swapped out with another recording really easily. I know that After Effects can do this kind of thing, but that feels a bit heavyweight still, and you are basically redoing the video.
I'm aware of the counter-argument that some users would prefer a live/interactive demo over videos.
