Ask HN: Anyone can give my kids a tour of Google or Apple campus?
Taking my kids on a road trip along CA coast this coming week. A few places they really want to visit are Google campus, Apple HQ, and Roblox. Anyone here could help us out? We'll be in the area this Monday 8/6/2022.
Thank you! We couldn't get to any of the companies for a tour but I want to give a shout out to the engineer at Roblox. She was in a hurry and sorry we didn't catch her name. She over heard that my son wanted to take a picture in front of the office as she was leaving, but the security guard won't let us in. She was in a hurry to pick up her kid, yet still ran up to her office and got my son a Roblox mug and some stickers. He was ecstatic! Made his whole trip! Thank you again! Apple Park is not open to anyone without a pre-approved business reason for entering, including families of Apple employees. Google is more open to visitors at most buildings, when accompanied by a Google employee with access to the relevant building. But do note that “campus” is not really a word that accurately describes Google or Apple. They both have a sprawl of buildings strewn about the 5-10 mile radius around the building the CEO happens to have their office in. Some just look like random office buildings, others have a courtyard or other feature that make them feel more like a campus. But for the most part they aren’t much to look at. Thanks for the info! The kids are excited about these companies. I'm hoping to give them something to remember by and keep their motivation going well into the future.
