PlanetScale Prevents MySQL Downtime
planetscale.comHas anyone here compared Vitess vs TiDB? Vitess seems to have gained some momentum recently because of PlanetScale but TiDB apparently is closer to the regular MySQL feature set, at least according to their own docs.
Vitess runs on actual MySQL, it's not just MySQL protocol compatible, so it's definitely closer. There aren't many queries you can't run on Vitess for a single shard, though distributed / multi-shard queries have more limitations
