I posted a Show HN for the v1 in March [1]. The v2 is a major upgrade and lets you save articles permanently and read arXiv papers natively in Smort rather than handling PDFs. All ArXiv papers released up till 20th May 2022 can be parsed.
When I was a grad student, I found it hard to collaborate on arXiv papers and share my annotations, so I built Smort to solve a problem I faced. Smort can be used instead of Github to host your annotated papers collection and share it with the world!

Have you thought about making this work for more things than ArXiv? Could be interesting to prepend Smort to any URL and create “rooms” for annotating the web (other static content like Wikipedia, or even temporal content like Youtube videos). But maybe that’s too wide of a scope, just got me thinking :) This seems like a useful tool for annotating ArXiv papers! Definitely going to try it out. All the best. Is it possible to share all my annotated papers with others, like on GitHub? At the moment Smort can only share individual papers rather than having all the papers in a single page. But we're working on this! Sort of like a profile page where people can see all the annotated and shared articles/papers of a user
