Ask HN: Since work from home do you took more or less day off?
I'm new in space about 5 year, 3 years on office and 2 years WFH. I just realized back then I always took maximum PTO (14 days/year) from my company. Most of the excuse are football, fishing, leisure, or any kind of thing I play with "the boys".
Now I only took days off for family matter and important things.
So how about you? Do you take less or more? Same amount every year. Then again, I'm in the UK where our laws provide us with a minimum amount (28) of days off and it's very unusual for anyone not to take the days to which they're entitled. Whatever your local culture and laws, being able to spend some time away from work to recharge your batteries is important. Take your PTO. I took less days off the past two years but not because of work from home. Mostly because covid and I couldn't do the things I wanted to do. This year I'll probably end up with 4-6 weeks off simply because the places I want to travel to are available now. Yup, covid make me bored and do just work too, at least for a year. That's great! I would love to have long vacation ~
