Tell HN: Copper CRM will Charge for 12 months if you Cancel on first day
I signed up for Copper CRM as I was thinking that I was getting a good deal for their 20% lifetime discount to sign up on May 01 2022. I signed up and realized that this was not the product for me. And I cancelled the service, but these people refused to stop charging and as I just saw my credit card statement, was charged for June as well.
I understand that it was my fault completely that I should have used their app for the trial version first before signing up, but having to penalize a client for 12 months and enforce their obligation, because of a 1 day use is in my opinion not a way to treat a customer.
In my opinion, what seemed fair and also as I requested them, was to charge me for a full month of May for not checking out the software first.
Buyer beware! This is easy to fix. Call your credit card company and tell them you canceled, and the company refuses to refund you. Don't mention anything about the "terms of service", just say you were ripped off. Where is the rip off? The company provides a 14 day free trial, it's all over their pricing page. https://www.copper.com/pricing The customer made a conscious decision to select an annual plan (contract) which is charged at a lower price every month. If I sign up a mobile phone contract or gym membership and try to cancel in the first week it's not refunded either. Sucks but it's not an automatic rip off. They're charging him for a product he's not using, so all I'm saying is if they won't take care of it, complain to the credit card company. I don't care what plan he picked... he's not using it. Call your credit card provider and issue a chargeback. They can't charge your card without your consent, but you must assert your rights with your CC company. > as I just saw my credit card statement Reading this I think a friendly email to them will solve it. My business has plenty of customers who forget to cancel, the charge on their credit card statement and go into panic mode. We refund the last charge (it costs a small percentage to do that) and both sides are happy. I did that. But they refuse to do so. They say that you have to pay for the entire 12 months, even though the account was cancelled by their team.
