Kobo e-ink device with a Vario+GPS – XCSoar Glide Computer

This is awesome! Such a great accomodation of device to neat use!

I'd love to see better ways of connecting gps devices, vs having to solder them on. Do Kobos accept any other peripherals over usb, or can they only present as a device via gadget mode? It'd be great if usb gps device modules got compiled, so one cpuld just be plugged in. There's also things like gpsd daemon, which can present location over network: A phone or dedicated device could make that happen, but it's definitely a little.funky figuring out what networking makes sense, whether wifi-p2p makes sense or whether it's ok to have a specific AP device to rely on (with perhaps it's own reliability & battery concerns).
