What happened in creative coding in the last five years?
I've been actively following generative design and creative coding for quite some time during my studies and beyond. Due to changes in profession I stopped paying attention to the field around 2017. Now I've been asked to do a seminar about the topic and I wonder:
What happened in creative coding in the last five years? What did I miss? Where is the field going now?
I would love to get your input with links and hints to exceptional projects and articles you encountered in the last few years and will be eternally grateful for the help of this collective mind. What do you mean by creative coding and generative design? As far as I understood, latter is something like demoscene where programmers try to draw some impressive graphics within hard limits like 1KiB of code; but former is not understandable for me. The Wikipedia article is a okayish description https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Creative_coding . I guess if I had to describe it as short as possible I would say: using code to create art. Some good examples are the works of Anders Hoff https://inconvergent.net/generative/ or lots of projects on https://www.creativeapplications.net/ and of course the pioneering works of Frieder Nake et al. Am examples for generative design would be the old logo of the MIT Media lab https://www.engadget.com/2011-03-10-mit-media-lab-gets-a-mul...
