Ask HN: Does anyone need a website built?
Hey HN,
I'm a student in dire straits. I was recently accepted into college for a computer systems technology program, after being told I was on a waiting list and my chances of being accepted were slim to none. The problem with that is that I have not been working for the past few months since I just moved to Western Canada and my tuition fee is due in a couple of weeks.
I have already applied for loans and grants, but of course those aren't guaranteed. So to keep a long story short, I need a source of income very soon. In terms of skills, I have been building websites for the past few years, most of what I have worked on is static HTML,CSS, JS, and wordpress sites. I also know some Java and PHP.
I'm looking for similar work to improve my portfolio and raise some money to pay my tuition. I'm also open to learning any technologies I am not familiar with. I know a bit about Ruby on Rails, from the rails tutorial and Code School.
If no one has any work available, I'm also open to tips. I'm very much in a bind, so anything would be helpful. I'm also looking for any kind of part time job I can get my hands on, but those take time.
