The Crisis in Ukraine Is Not About Ukraine: It’s About Germany
newcoldwar.orgThe antiwar declaration supported by the authors in their About page is signed by a bunch of Russians and refers to Donestk as a "republic" but Kiev as not one, (just a "government"), so don't consider the analysis as particularly unbiased. Read the manifesto critically if you want to know where they are really coming from.
So according to this article, somehow the US "tricked" Russia to invade Ukraine in order to prevent the Nordstream 2 gas pipeline from Russia to Germany going online.
.. Ah OK.
None of that makes sense to me at all. I'm going to presume the site is a propaganda site.
It is not impossible. Russia is adamant that Ukraine should not join NATO, and you can understand why. Positive moves from the US in that direction would have the outcome we see.
To what extent NATO members wish (or wished) to defend Ukraine will become evident, but their inaction today does not bode well.
[Edit] Guardian headline now: "Germany shelves Russian gas pipeline after Putin orders troops over border"
I'd go with a more simple explanation. Russia decided to invade, because they chose to do so. It's no one else's fault.
Russia intentionally prevented Germany and the rest of Russia's gas customers from filling up their reserves this season, despite really needing the money.
Sounds like the USA "tricked" Russia into doing that. An impressive feat. /s
At last. Someone sees through the relentless US propaganda campaign and gets at the real motive behind all this.
