Havana Syndrome: Officials stricken with illness on White House grounds
cbsnews.comNot an expert in any way, but from what I have read the symptoms of Havana syndrome pretty closely match panic attacks.I think this is likely the security/intelligence community refusing to acknowledge the mental toll of their job and attributing these problems to their enemies. It doesn't help that speculating what kind of technology could cause these issues is much more interesting than "it's stress"
So now I really wonder if it's some EMI from security equipment we run ourselves.
Believed this for a long time. ELINT has been a part of US embassies and the WH since forever. I think the overwhelmingly most likely reason is an own-goal side effect of counter measures.
Overly aggressive sweeper designed to energize passive only surveillance devices?
Smart (or dumb) equipment that dynamically mis/targets jamming signal to specific locations?
Beam forming comms, guess which people carry the new beam forming devices it's trying to optimise signal path to. (this was part of the OG 5G spec, to do agile tunable antenna stuff so you got diverse high bandwidth paths to specific devices in a "cell")
I'm having a really hard time wrapping my head around this one. In foreign countries is one thing, but inside the White House? Options in my head:
1. Large, long-range directed energy weapon off the White House grounds that would need some advanced mechanism for aiming.
2. Smaller, shorter-range directed energy weapon that was snuck into the White House.
3. Not a malicious directed-energy weapon
My theory is that it's not something caused by 'adversaries' but is, in fact, a 'workplace injury'. The common denominator is that the victims are all 'Government officials', in countries all over the world.
Those officials are doing something in the course of their job, or are having something done to them as part of their jobs, that the cause comes down to 'workplace injury', and the Government is trying hard not to have to accept that it may be liable for millions/billions of dollars in Workers' Compensation claims.
4. Psychosomatic
Somatic Symptom Disorder, sometimes called Psychosomatic Disorder, is defined in the DSM V and does not mean the symptoms are "all in your head". It refers to patients with a compulsive-to-the-point-of-self-damaging focus on their condition, even if that condition is a diagnosed medical condition.
In other words, it's not a blank check to ignore these people.

To emphasize this, even if somatic symptoms are rooted in mental/emotional state, they’re still real and experienced as real.

It could be directional (MASERs are a thing). You have to be looking for it. You also have to disclose if you find something.
IIRC, the Russian Embassy in DC has a line-of-sight with the Whitehouse... This needs a fact check, corrections encouraged.
