What happens when you get to 100 karma points?
I have been stuck on 97 karma points for many months now and I can no longer control my curiosity. What happens when I hit the magical treshhold of 100? Please either initiate me into that secret or upvote me so I can find it out myself! Nothing happens at 100, as far as I know. If you get above 500, you can downvote comments. Someone has collected a list of undocumented features of HN: https://github.com/minimaxir/hacker-news-undocumented/blob/m... This is really helpful. I am surprised — why doesn't HackerNews have a page outlining these policies themselves? At least with tetris you got a three stage rocket > I have been stuck on 97 karma points for many months now You get points from other users. You have to engage in discussion or submit highly interesting links to get points. There are people who submit several links per day. But for some people (like me) these kid of forums are addictive, I browse them constantly trying to find some hidden treasure and there is none. It could even bring a fatigue about "awesome stories". It's easiest to get point with links. Easily >100 if it's a good one. On discussions you can get about 100 per month. You should be over a hundred now. If not I recommend reply to people who commented on your question. Wow, how did you know that? It is true! Can you see how many upvotes I have? In any case, thank you for your upvote. :) At 400 your own comments stop counting, only up votes. At 500 you can down vote. In my experience. Nothing, but around 600 you get the ability to downvote. Paul Graham knocks on your door and congratulate you, before giving you a $1 million dollar check, equity-free, for your new startup. That bastard. He only gave me $125,000, but to be fair he did say my wife was quite attractive “for her age”.
