Lost Ark becomes the 2nd most played game in Steam history after 24h

While I definitely consider New World (Amazon's first hit game) to be a success, I don't think it's something to be emulated. The content in that game seriously drops off, there are multiple game-breaking (and economy breaking) bugs and it's obvious that the game had a messy concept that switched tracks multiple times.

Further, I'm sad at the general state of affairs in the RPG gaming space. I remember fondly games like the Witcher and Skyrim, but looking at the trends, it seems that micro-transactions are the future of this space.

I'm cautiously optimistic that this will be an enjoyable game in and of itself, but maybe I'll just replay Morrowind or perhaps Dark Souls instead of picking this up.
