The use of azithromycin on a large scale basis seems dubious. While it can be useful in a small subset of COVID-19 patients to treat secondary bacterial pneumonia, other studies have shown that it isn't an effective anti-viral. Widespread use in the general population is likely to contribute to antibiotic resistance.
