C&D Grand Prix: If company on shirt is first to serve Cease and Desist, you win
cdgrandprix.comUhh… Their own terms and conditions say:
“”” You may not use our products for any illegal or unauthorized purpose nor may you, in the use of the Service, violate any laws in your jurisdiction (including but not limited to copyright laws). You must not transmit any worms or viruses or any code of a destructive nature. A breach or violation of any of the Terms will result in an immediate termination of your Services “””
So by using their service… then you’re breaking their own terms and conditions? I’m not sure they thought this one through very well.
Do you think that buying these shirts break these conditions somehow?
Just because something is 'illegal' does not mean both sides of the transaction had the legal responsibility to not trade.
This… can’t possibly end well, right? They’re going to get slapped down hard in court, right? They can’t claim ignorance.
Or… are they allowed to do whatever they want until they get a C&D?
It’s MSCHF, stirring up controversy is kind of their gimmick - I assume they set aside money to deal with legal issues, especially given the premise of “anyone who bought a shirt from the company that sent us a C&F first wins”.
It’s not really clear to me if they’ve even actually sold anything…
Indeed, the idea of their art is about consumerism and hype and they all "sell out" quickly as they are in limited numbers. All we can look for is people who did get a "drop" in the post or who actually paid money for something.
But I think its funnier if we think that they have not sold anything at any time!
