youtube.comboth sides are being disingenuous.
(to me at least). youtube didn't nuke the dislikes count to protect creators because most are complaining. you would think that they would approach them first. and, the dislikes count only appears to be useful to creators, not regular users. as in, they get to see what is working or not for other creators.
the real feud is between the platform and the creators. regular users, and people who only publish a video once in forever, seem indifferent to all that is happening. and yet, they want to drag us into it.
I am a user and used dislike counts extensively on YT to filter out videos with poor SNR. It isn't just about the platform vs. creators
The simple solution for YouTube would have been to let the creators make the choice.
