I cringe when I read that they will resort to flying french fries from Canada to Japan.

Shame on you McDonald’s from an environmental standpoint.

    A shame is how agriculture in Japan isn't cost competitive compared to America.

The west had literally DECADES to build up a stronger silicon-industry, and all the money and brainpower to do so.

Problem is, if spending for education and public investments in "future" technology stagnates, well...

        Supply shortages are probably more depressing and worrying trend than cpu industry.

        And they are not entirely because of "covid disruptions".

      To be fair, this was pretty dirty from the BBC. In a good way at least. And who is to say that silicon fries aren't tasty as well.
