Building failure can happen in unexpected ways. We were watching a brick Victorian era office block on fire. The roof peak was leaning over the street and we and the fire department were expecting it to fall onto the street which had been cordoned off.

The triangular top of the peak fractured horizontally lower down and the rotation around the fracture line pushed the wall below back into the building and successively collapsed each floor.

Unfortunately there were firefighters inside. A couple did hospital time.

Past tense - this happened a month ago the last time they tried to fix it.

Still no updates since then, I think. Our top Tyler Durdens are calculating the relative cost of letting it fall over.

This building is fucked and I wonder when people are going to accept that.

    Probably when the next moderate size earthquake gives it a good shake.

        They absolutely will. It’s West Coast Surfside. Fighting Until Failure. Avoid dwelling in the building shadow.
