I always get funny looks from HR when I opt out of coverage on this stuff.

Not participating in dentistry has proven to be quite uneventful for me. Maybe I have special unicorn mouth genetics. Perhaps some untold horrors are brewing in my teeth somewhere - but I don't want to subject myself to 20+ x-rays on a quarterly basis just so they can confirm everything is OK and bill the fuck out of my insurance each time.

I feel like a lot of our health care system is propped up on an ambience of fear and lack of autonomy over one's self. When you can bill UHC $[large sum] every time someone steps foot into your office, you may be compelled to insert little half truths into their head to keep them a recurring customer.

Not far off...many Dr's offices double bill for annual wellness visits, claiming there was something discussed outside the parameters...Dr's purposely direct questioning so that the patient will discuss such things...very slimy practice.
