The Counterintuitive Mechanics of Peloton Addiction

I ride, and I ride a lot. But the whole social-media-thing-around-cycling has never for a second interested me. I ride to save on fuel costs, because it is better for the climate and because I simply enjoy cycling. Anything up to 100 Km I try to do by bike if I can, the things that might ruin those plans are bad weather, being in a hurry or longer distances.

But none of that or my speeds/stats are anybody else's business, I really don't see the point. So, if you are using this stuff and care about it I would suggest an alternative: simply don't. In the end it's not about competition (this applies to for instance Strava that some of my family members use all the time).

And in a virtualized version of this (Peloton) it would make even less sense to share it, the better way to deal with that is to not do it at all, if you can, get a real bike and use it as much as you can, and use the trainer if you can't use the regular bike and think of it as an opportunity lost.
