Ask HN: Why can’t the Raspberry Pi be precisely cloned?

The SoC is not available for purchase by any other party than the Pi Foundation.

Similar SoCs are available from other vendors such as Odroid, OrangePi, and Pine64.

There’s no value in cloning the Pi SoC when similar or better SoCs are available with similar or better software support.
