What is/was your water?

Here, water is in reference to commencement speech given by David Foster Wallace. From my understanding we have default assumption template which we use to construct meaning for situation happening in front of us. And water which is flowing around us(he gives eg of fish) which is real truth never gets generated from our templates. So what was your moment where you found out wait this is water it's always been here but I never knew!!
