meanwhile Sony is dropping an update to their a7 line. last drop was the a7iii in spring 2018. rumors were it'd have 4k60 but everyone's changed tune & is now expecting 4k30, like the a7iii.
it's hard for me to imagine mirrorless cameras being so slow, so unwilling to deliver anywhere near the throughput that phones & action cameras gladly offer up. these markets are conspiring to make sure 4k60 (or better) is reserved for very expensive gear. it's so hard for me to imagine there being any technical limitations here what-so ever. this is purely market segmentation. and phones, action cameras: they seem like very real disruption from below, happening in real time.
