Pale Moon switches to private repository
forum.palemoon.orgBetter be careful what you say here, guys, or you and all of Hacker News will join the growing list of "enemies" and "traitors" to the Pale Moon project. For example, r/opensource and r/programming in their entirety are already on there, not having responded favorably to their previous escapades.
This won't stop people who disrespect the license or personally insult the developers [indeed, it's bound to cause a whole lot if it! I hope we can do better in this thread], but it will have a negative effect on contributions. I wish the developers well, and don't have a _different_ constructive action to suggest (legally pursuing infringers is a slow, expensive, and uncertain game), but I am not optimistic that this is a good choice or good for the long-term health of the project.
That's all pretext anyway. It's basically a ragequit over not getting a big applause for https://www.reddit.com/r/opensource/comments/pf6hyd/pale_moo...
So they're switching from the Bazaar model to the Cathedral model of Open Source software development. [0] As others have said, it seems unlikely this will work out for them.

Someone will have to explain to me how this will stop mpl violations or insults to the developers lol
Not a good choice imo
