"Any political settlement that the Afghans pursue to avert bloodshed must include having women at the table."

Or what? Just go ahead and bloodshed? As well intentioned and needed as this statement is, I don't think she gets the nature of Islam in that area of the world.

Although I agree with equal rights for men and women, I think that she is disregarding the fact that all types of people are being hurt by this.

I don't think Taliban rulers understand your 'progressivism'. They seem to only understand 'war' and 'bloodshed' at this point.

Maybe they thought the US became 'weak' and had a go at abruptly taking over the Afghan government all of a sudden.

> Once again, I want to acknowledge the clarity of purpose of President Biden’s statement and the wisdom of his actions.

Hmmmm ...

> I was the fourth President to preside over an American troop presence in Afghanistan—two Republicans, two Democrats. I would not, and will not, pass this war onto a fifth.

Clearly, Germans are worth of indefinite protection against Russia, but, Afghans, meh, not so much.

The U.S. and the E.U. chickening out in Bosnia and Somalia paved the way to 9/11. Let's see how the rest of us will pay the price for this debacle.
