RethinkDB replace V8 with QuickJS

Is rethinkDB still in active development? Has it been taken up by a community and potentially become like `The PostgreSQL Global Development Group`?

Asking because I'm a new dev and find RethinkDB fascinating, but fear my investments in learning will be in vain.
