US dealers see ammunition shortage as sales surge

This article is about 18 months too late. At least I can actually buy bullets (yes, not cartridges) now, and primers were in stock at the store.

5.56 mm is down to $500/1k rounds from it’s high of $800. That is still crazy high, and I bought several 1k rounds at $270 just before pandemic as I had not seen prices that low in 13 yesrs.
