Hi HN! Hope you are well and staying safe:)

My name is Sachin and I’m building Volant AI. We’re empowering anyone—(hackers/builders), kaggle competitors and even SMBs—to build with AI using crowdsourced, affordable AI models from our AI model marketplace. Anyone who has built AI models in the past can monetize their skills and sell their models on our marketplace, where buyers can easily integrate the bought model as an API via docker image.

I’ve got a demo vid (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7HOFuYVme8) where I show how easy it is for someone who has built a deep learning model via Keras (at the moment) to take their model file and upload it to the volant ai dashboard and ultimately publish it to the marketplace for people to buy. Fact: It takes minutes to sell!

If you have built some deep learning model in the past or maybe for some kaggle competition, our platform will help you make money selling. You should sign up now to do so!

You can check us out at (and sign up via) https://volantai.org . Join our discord server as we build the community too: https://discord.com/invite/V7cD5bTURS

Happy to hear feedbacks, comments and concerns:)

A little bit more about the reason behind building this platform:

Over the past decade, increased accessibility to AI education through MOOCs and platforms like Kaggle has enabled so many people (e.g. ~3 million monthly active Kagglers) to be able to build Deep Learning and Machine Learning models. This platform aims to take advantage of this large community and connect buyers to these models. While months of costly and expertise-heavy AI model development may be needed in enterprise settings or other high-fidelity situations, it’s not the case for most parties looking to use an AI model to improve their bottom line. With our marketplace, you can potentially save in the time (ideating, training, tuning a model), cost (compute isn’t cheap, electricity isn’t free) and expertise of using an AI model for your business.

Let me know your thoughts!

I guess there is nice benefit in the cost/time if people are putting their models on your marketplace, but it seems like you've got to sacrifice quality, right? Bit skeptical about that aspect, but curious to see where this goes.

Hi, thanks for the comment! You're absolutely right, people will save time/cost in AI model dev (assuming that's what you're referring to:)

I'm not sure I agree with there being a sacrifice in quality. In the AI marketplace space, models are usually curated in-house by their own team of AI experts. The implicit assumption is that they are "experts" (which, they usually are). The models you'll see will be curated by hand, but with us, we'll automate this curation by displaying the performance of the model (Think click on a model, and see how it performs on a dataset). It's arguably the most important aspect of the model.

Also, who's to limit where the expertise come from? The online community of data scientists is large and a Kaggle GM (who's day job isn't even DS/AI!) could have more relevant model building experience than any in-house data scientist. As is the case with any large group of technical expertise, there's a spectrum of skill but our marketplace should self-sort for the best anyway. Hope this clears your question up!
