Ask HN: VoIP for Podcast App

2 points by mrdobelina 4 years ago · 2 comments · 1 min read

I'm thinking about an app to create podcasts simply over the phone.

From what I see there's a bunch of interesting tools to make podcasts, but in the end they all require some sort of setup on both sides, or access to a laptop, or else.

Maybe I'm missing something, but why can't there be an app where you simply call your invitee and record the call that will become the podcast itself? Then can be post-produced, but the core would be to simply record the call.

I want to start making podcasts for my DTC brand interviewing founders of burger joints, but, being a tech guy for me it's easy, on the other side a burger joint guy may not be that tech savvy.

Make sense?

I'm interested in discussing ideas, and collaborations with anyone who'd be interested in working on this with me.

Zoom can record calls -- they do not have to be video calls, have the other party call the Zoom conference number. Google Voice can record calls, call them and press 4 (I think) Those will be lower fidelity for the caller's audio.

FOr better fidelity looked at riverside.fm? The remote party only needs Chrome.

Yea I was looking at Riverside.fm and I think it's the best tool around, still need the parties to be on a laptop and Chrome.

Will check if Google Voice works easily in Italy.
