An Open Letter to Sundar Pichai: Search, Human Rights and Internet Freedom
blog.mojeek.comGreat letter, I hope it will be read. There is a shift in the industry in favor of strong paternalization. Google search became a worse product for inquisitive minds. It is clear that there are direct business connections with outlets and if a term fits in the news world, search results get unusably spammed with articles about said keyword.
Getting really impartial information has become more difficult, this is even worse considering Googles willingness to work with regimes to suppress information. If that is what Google wants to do, it should make place for bolder alternatives. The trust that Google wanted to win back cannot be given for free.
