This is pretty sweet, was always looking for a way to compare prices across all platforms to find the best value deals

Seems like its mainly for luxury / higher end cars right now, any chance of doing a lower to mid tier price range for some decent cars?

When you consider what is going on in the used car markets, I think that this makes sense. The premise of this calculation is around profit, and unfortunately the low end cars have increased in price greater than what they can command while renting on Turo.

The rental premiums were key in designing this.

This is really cool. What is your data source and how did you build this out because as far as I know, companies like Carvana, Vroom, and Carmax are quite silo’d and ostensibly don’t have an API that’s public facing?

Hey! Thanks for your kind words :)

I’m new here and it’s nice to see the HN crowd embrace this!

I used a service called Drivly:

    https://driv.ly

They call themselves a “Plaid for Automotive” but I consider them more akin to an AWS because they’re building out this fundamental level infrastructure and data integrations that unlock the whole automotive world for entrepreneurship. Without a service like this, I don’t think that I could’ve built Carculator.

Cars are the second most expensive asset but unlike homes which are number one, are even harder to do anything with programmatically or entrepreneurially.
