Rant: iOS App Store search is awful (2018)

I always suspected this type of crap went on and here it is in black and white.
I'm not big on installing new apps, so I just tried a bunch of searches, including DropBox, and every single one was the very first search result. Am I just not searching for the right thing to see this in action? Are search results personalized on the appstore like they are on Google?
This is from 2018, the thread makes it seem like they "fixed" the problem
