Ask HN: If You Thrive like Me Under Pressure, How do You Replicate That Drive?

Hey everyone, To put this in the simplest terms possible, I went through a difficult period months ago. This situation caused me a lot of stress and strong emotions for a short amount of time. I responded very proactively, I was waking up early everyday to go running, I was eating healthier, lifting after work in the evenings, and mentally being more “in the moment.” It was honestly a strange temporary mind shift I had, but I was super focused during this time.

Now I’m way over what happened and I have lost that edge and I’m falling back to my normal behavior.

I don't know if that level of hard work is sustainable over long periods of time, but surely there are other ways to tap into that zone I was in? Has anyone else ever experienced something like this?

You don’t have infinite gas, so it’s fine to take the foot off the pedal. Trust your instincts and stay with the other racers on the circuit. You will find your spots where you can accelerate out of a turn. It’s a long race.

Meditate. Increased mindfulness helps develop your brain to recognize the unimportant, so you can let it go, and focus on the important.

Sounds like adult ADHD symptoms. Do some research into hyper-focus.
