Judge Grills Tim Cook on App Store Policies
macrumors.comI am going to make a prevision here, just on a hunch ...This will not go well for Apple.
I am saying that just based on this: Their executives dared to claim in court they do not know how much the App Store is making in profit for their bottom line :-) https://www.bbc.com/news/technology-57199547
Hints of lack of preparation for their court appearance. Showing arrogance against the court does not normally play out well with a judge. A reissue of the attitude that caused the troubles Microsoft got itself into years ago.
Day 14 excerpt:
> Malackowski says he looked at Epic’s requested relief: They are asking for a defacto compulsory licensing agreement without payment and it would harm innovation.
Is there any legal precedent for this type of request to be granted? The judge doesn’t have to like Apple, but cannot make arbitrary rulings either.
The bank argument was interesting. Wells Fargo may not apply, but what about Venmo? Venmo lives on mobile devices and that transaction would not exist without the App Store.
