Every submission regarding his divorce was flagged and downvoted here. So I expect it will be the same with this. If not I will really start to doubt the hive mind.

It's flagged because there's zero substance to even discuss; all that these articles say is that 2 things happened around the same time, followed by rumors and implications.

    From the site guidelines:

    > On-Topic: Anything that good hackers would find interesting. That includes more than hacking and startups. If you had to reduce it to a sentence, the answer might be: anything that gratifies one's intellectual curiosity.

    > Off-Topic: Most stories about politics, or crime, or sports, unless they're evidence of some interesting new phenomenon. Videos of pratfalls or disasters, or cute animal pictures. If they'd cover it on TV news, it's probably off-topic.

This would be on TV, is covered by "pratfalls", and is not intellectually stimulating. It deserves flagging.

You say that, but similar articles about Google directors and such like have historically generated a lot of upvotes and conversation. Yet this and others have been flagged to hell and back the moment it reaches the front page. The fact that this story keeps popping in and out of the flagged state shows there’s a lot of people vouching for it and thus a lot of interest. It definitely feels a little off how different the Gates submissions have been flagged vs similar topics from other companies.

There are plenty of exclusively political topics on the front page almost every day. Gates's sexual proclivities are uninteresting by themselves.

The fact that he is being sacrificed now, in the context of his allegedly altruistic agendas is interesting.

I didn't say I disagree with flagging it.

I am seeing it as flagged right now.

Stop! This is a danger to our Democracy! The information above will give doubt to our glorious oligarchic leader Bill Gates and how much of a saint he is.

I think that this is different since it is about him leaving rather than divorce itself.

That's some juicy gossip. Exactly what I come to HN for.

Who cares if he’s had an affair? Like really?

Considering he was running one of the largest companies in the US: a lot of people. Anyone running MSFT Products, buying MSFT Products and/or investing in Microsoft would be worried about the CEO being compromised.
