Show HN: How we are building a radically different Creative Agency from India

3 points by navchatterji 5 years ago · 2 comments · 1 min read

Our thesis in building this radical new type of a creative agency is broken down into the following six points, we call this the Sanscubicle Protocol and we kicked this off in 2016 on founding Lazy Eight (www.lazyeight.in)

Following are the six points:

1). A fully remote, zero infrastructure model. 2). Having a single title, ie. a completely flat organisation with no hierarchical designations. 3). Limiting employees to 60 work hours per month. 4). Using AI to measure work hours and data. 5). Profit sharing for all employees. 6). Ability for our employees to build their your own equity ownership vehicles.

A dive into each of these points can be found here: https://blog.lazyeight.in/lazy-eight-the-journey-so-far-25e30ed86f20

Are any of you trying to rethink future of work models for a particular vertical? If so would love to understand how. Thanks much!

Very interested in following this over the years. Worker organized businesses can work well but they seem to require tons of commitment to the idea and hard work. You aren't just doing the work your customers hire you to do, you have to work a lot of the management fundamentals of your business in a way that traditional don't; the path forward for them had already been paved and is well traveled by countless other companies.

Also, I don't know a single org. that has a truly flay hierarchy because management tends to require its own expertise and dedicated work. Any thoughts on this?

Thanks for the comment here. I couldn't agree more, it takes quiet the effort to stick on message and thesis. Fortunately for us we have been on it for the past 5 years now. During this time there has been a ton of learning and recalibrating. Still a long way to go, but so far so good :)

As per your question, in our case the titles are the same but the role can differ. ie. for a particular project a Principal can take the lead and then invite other Principals into the engagement in more of a supporting role.
