Ask HN: Are there complimentary front end software for headless CMS?

3 points by coreyhn 5 years ago · 4 comments · 1 min read

With directus, strapi, baserow, and other headless cms/api first/database gui products, are there complimentary front end gui style products for non-tech users that will interact with the aforementioned using them as a backend? I recognize that they have their own interfaces, but they are more like an admin interface which still is needed. I understand that you can build the front end using react or vue or another framework, but curious if there is a prebuilt solution.

I recognize that possible solutions might be a cms like drupal, joomla, wordpress etc, but I like the simplicity and blank slate fee of the headless cms and curious if there is an equivalent for custom front end

webflow?

Webflow feels more like a cms and less of a framework for creating web applications front ends.

It's really both rolled into one. But yeah, for now the kinds of web applications you can create with Webflow without custom code/hacks are pretty limited. For now.

But more to the original question's point: Webflow provides a CMS interface and has an API for accessing the CMS, so you could use it as a "headless CMS" where you need to and use the provided UI for managing the CMS content without building your own.
