Btrfs Will Finally “Strongly Discourage” You When Creating RAID5 / RAID6 Arrays
phoronix.comI wonder if this impacts synology. I’m running a RAID 6 array with btrfs on top. They handled the partitioning, so I don’t know if they’re using the built in raid 6, or the underlying Linux implementation.
Synology uses Linux RAID and then uses btrfs inside the resulting metadisk.
Came to ask the same question. I have a hunch the raid 6 in the storage pool is separate from a file system raid. But I’ll have to do more research.
Just switched to synology for backups and looking to have a data integrity rated system for long term.
Anyone know more?
