Ask HN: Anybody want to work on something together?
I'm starting to feel a bit lonely and less motivated than ever before. If anybody feels the same way and wants to collaborate on a project or even just chat about some ideas let me know in the comments. Now feels like a great time to be building and not just consuming!
I've struggled to meet like-minded people and this has become harder with lockdown for me. I haven't found a good forum for doing so and having been on hackernews for the last decade I figured why not post here.
I'm a data scientist by day and have worked in finance, healthcare, and public policy. For fun I like to work on a wide range of side-projects using python and django/flask but would be open to trying something new and even non-technical. I currently work in finance (high frequency trading) and am honing my data science skills (I use pandas a lot for work, branching into pytorch and fastai), and as a hobby I'm working on a collaborative open-source fiction platform. I have experience with both front-end and back-end web development, with a particular focus on design and product development. I don't have school, which gives me more than enough time to spend on learning, experimenting and building for projects. I'm a minor, and probably not living in the same country as you, making it harder for me to deal with business matters when needed. Is this primarily for projects backed by YC or just commercial projects? It is for people who are working on side-projects, startups and or want to build a startup. It is open for everyone. It is to help each other as well as find someone to work with on a project. So throwaway or lurker much like myself Yup, I’ve actually been on hn since 2008, but I’ve rotated/lost accounts over the years. I sort of wish I had one of those old accounts however for posterity. Aha, I see. I thought it was a throwaway account, which seemed odd for someone who was wanting to get partners in a project. Good luck on whatever you end up doing!
