All foreign aid has this specific risk. India is a global powerhouse of generic drug manufacturing and leads a worldwide drug patent related movement to demand equitable access to drug IP. Not doing vaccine covax group would have been ludicrously misaligned to India's longterm posture in drugs and health.

Australia has only 25m people and has secured over 60m doses and we have nut cases demanding we grab all stocks for use here including things made here to give to the pacific island community (we both import and make covid vaccine) it's not just an Indian risk problem.
