Install Docker on Windows (WSL) Without Docker Desktop
dev.toSeems overly complicated. I installed Docker CE right from docker.com in Ubuntu 20.04 on WSL2 with only 2 'issues' both due to lack of systemd:
1.) Missing cgroups under /sys/fs/cgroup/systemd
mkdir /sys/fs/cgroup/systemd
mount -t cgroup -o none,name=systemd cgroup /sys/fs/cgroup/systemd
2.) No launch at 'startup'
put the docker start in your .bashrd
Also, 'Kind'(1) works really well for setting up K8s envs in WSL2Good tips! Yes, if Ubuntu from the Store is your flavor, then your setup makes huge sense.
I am obsessed with experimenting with methods that can work on a variety of WSL distros. Give it a couple months, and I may be back to your straightforward suggestion. For now, I am really satisfied with my present configuration, though. Time will tell.
