The sound of skating on thin ice

Wow, he's game. I used to ice skate once but I'd never skate on ice quite that thin. Being black ice, it's likely freshly frozen so what would worry me would be coming across a thermally insulated area where the ice wasn't yet that thick.

I reckon to skate on creeking ice that made sounds like that would be most unnerving.
