Colombians try castrating Pablo Escobar’s Hippos
washingtonpost.comI love the tagline "Efforts to castrate hippos are not as easy as you would think". Like, either the author is being super tongue-in-cheek, or he earnestly believes that readers would imagine this to be easy.
Wouldn’t it do less damage to the ecosystem to just kill them? Surely protecting the highly endangered animals and fragile environment in Columbia would be more important than pleasing short sighted animal rights activists.
This is silly. I love wildlife and nature. I'm against animal cruelty, but these animals don't belong there. Just shoot them.
Is there an equation "non belonging to an environment" === "rightfully being shot"? In such a case, I really hope you "belong" where you are now.
The hippos probably bring in tourism dollars, so that wouldn't be the most profitable solution.
