A True Google Mess
This has been covered here from time to time, hoping that somehow we eventually reach someone "on the inside who could help.
For 12 years I've had a Google Apps for Whatever It's Called Now account for me and the wife. We are DEEPLY entrenched in the Google ecosystem, but none of the "cool stuff" works with GSuite accounts. We want out. But it's near impossible. All I want is to turn my account into a "normal" google account. Or have some level of GSuite subscription that allowed us to use things like Nest or Family Library.
"Just start over" they say. But seems easier said than done. Any tips/ideas on making this suck less? First get a Google Takeout of everything as a backup. You can transfer your email to a standard Gmail account via imap (I used to use maildirsync but https://imapsync.lamiral.info/ seems like it may work). For Drive, just share all your documents with your new standard Gmail account. BTW this post reminds me that I am probably overexposed to Google and should consider partially de-googling my life to some extent. I recently just did the same after realizing GSuite doesn’t work with half of my logins. I switched my domain from Google to Cloudfare, switched from Gmail to FastMail, kept google photos on a personal Gmail account that is never used, and signed up with Qobuz music. What's the problem? Which Google products are holding you back? Email should be easy. Android? Docs?
