The Wirecutter moving behind the NYT paywall?

Visited The Wirecutter site this morning, and it wants me to "Join Wirecutter for free". I guess it was inevitable when they sold it to the NYT. Presumably paid subscriptions will be the next step, once they've identified their base. Too bad.
