Microsoft copied my blog post

I know I'm being petty but this just irked me enough that I wanted to share.

I wrote a blog post on the differences in syntax between PowerShell and Python. It was really popular. My most popular post this year. Like 10k views in a day popular. I don't get THAT much traffic.

It was brought to my attention today that a Sr. Cloud Advocate at Microsoft took my blog post, tweaked it a bit and posted it on a Microsoft hosted blog. Almost exactly the same post.

Obviously, I will never be able to outrank Microsoft.com and any SEO I would have seen from such a post is now gone. He did link to my site but not the original article. And I know, my content is out on the internet for anyone to reproduce, enhance, reshare, reblog and whatever. It happens.

I mostly just wanted to rant. Sorry for wasting your time. ;)

He seems to have attributed you. Please check the post. You can ask him to take it down.

It sounds like you made this post for the sake of promoting your blog on HN. Just post the blog itself on HN next time. This is petty as he has clearly given you credit.

You do have a copyright on your website, though this content likely comes from a standard or open spec
