Show HN: Remynd: a weekly digest of links you want to revisit
getremynd.comHi Folks, As Melbourne has been locked down hard the last few months I found myself reading more articles and listening to more podcasts. Was constantly losing links by emailing or texting them to myself so made getremynd.com (https://getremynd.com). To be very explicit: it is not commercial. it's a tool I made for fun, utility and learning. Don't expect a sophisticated product! It works because it's simple and requires no signup/login.
Interestingly, I still do not read/listen to 100% of the links but I think i've (at least) doubled my low completion rate.
The idea is simple. Every Saturday you get an email with a list of links you sent to Remynd from that week, organized by subject line.
That's it!
Always open to (constructive) feedback and suggestions.
Cheers & stay safe!
whats the benefit over pocket/instapapaer
Great question! I personally, use pocket to be a long term storage and retrieval solution for things I really like and value. But over the course of the week i come across (almost entirely on my phone) lots of news articles , videos, and podcasts that I dont have time right away to check, and I'd like to check on the weekend. So with Remynd I simply use the "share" function to email that item to later@getremynd.com so that i dont have to worry about jotting it down. On saturday morning I get it all collected in a single email for the past week.
most of the links I dont want to store, but about 10% of them I really like and those I add to Pocket.
So really this is an alternative to texting yourself links you want to revisit, or saving them on stickies or a draft email, if that makes sense?
So really, Remynd is just a way for my to actually visit all the links I wanted to check out, rather than a way to store stuff I've checked out and value enough to store.
I've got about 22 people using it the 3 weeks and some of the "power users" ( 10+ links sent a week) say that they are emailing more stuff to themselves now because they know there is an organised way to find them later on (the weekly email). I think they're getting their weekly digest and then are able to search for emails from @remynd to trace back stuff that they want. I tend to just go through my digest in a single sitting because I only send stuff to myself that I'm serious about wanting to check out. I use it extensively for keeping up with engineering topics i like to make sure I read up on them rather than they falling through the cracks.
Hope that helps!
