And this is the type of attitude that will ensure nothing at all is ever done about the climate and we will all be living underground in a couple centuries.
And this is the kind of attitude that allows really stupid stuff all the way to atrocities to happen - "Think of the children!".
Blindly doing "something" for the sake of doing something is not always a positive. Sometimes doing nothing is far more productive and less destructive.
CA has an abysmal record at trying to solve things through regulation. Indeed, most governments do. Top down planning is hard - it's almost impossible to account for every variable. Rather than radical change or pie in the sky goals, and demonizing large parts of private industry what ever happened to partnership, cooperation, mutual goals?
Nope. That's too complicated. It's a binary choice - either you believe as I do or you are sub-human and thus should be dismissed.
And we wonder why things are so polarized?
We’ve had plenty of time to do nothing and look how much worse the problem has become.
All I’ve seen from the US government in my decade of voting is one party plugging their ears and going “lalalalala” while at the same time limiting the ability of the other party to do pretty much anything.
Younger generations want hope, and the older ones are doing absolutely nothing to provide that.
So excuse me if we want climate change legislation to happen without care for side effects. The planet becoming increasingly uninhabitable is the ultimate side effect.
