Ask HN: What has been your most confounding interaction with the legal field?
Attorney here.
I've just wrapped up a long term project and I'm eyeing the horizon for my next step. I thought I would try to get some feedback from the HN community with regards to pervasive issues at the intersection of law/regulators and your field.
By way of example, a project I have been considering for some time is an online resource for patients diagnosed with serious illnesses: forms for insurance purposes, statutory/regulatory citations, a step by step guide for submitting bills, and finally some sort of directory of attorneys by state that have indicated they'd be willing to lend a compassionate ear. This stemmed from spending time in a forum for breast cancer patients (owing to a family diagnosis) and hearing their common lament that interacting with insurance companies is one of the toughest non-medical parts of their treatment.
So, if you wouldn't mind mentioning your field and a quick summary of what problems pervade your industry -- maybe we can lighten the load.
