northidaho.ioHey y'all! I've been working from home for 10 years now and I can't imagine trading it back for office life. Today I work at Automattic, the company behind WordPress.com, Tumblr, and WooCommerce and being a fully distributed company we can live wherever we'd like.
My wife and I with our two kids have been calling North Idaho home for the past 9 years. We love it here and I'd love to see more of y'all moving out this way!
I started a side project (https://NorthIdaho.io) to help more folks move to the area. I'm starting out by curating a weekly list of rental properties. It's free, with no catch. I'm also offering a premium version for those in a hurry and looking for a bit of extra help.
I'd love to know what y'all think and also happy to answer any questions you have about North Idaho living.
Do you have any specific list of ISPs, mobile carriers (average hotspot performance, 5G availability, LTE speeds), etc that would work best? I'd imagine this is critical for many WFHers/remote.
I'd need a minimum of 2 Gbps symmetrical to be able to do any work remotely (video, encoding, large binary files, Perforce, etc.) and a promise of "maybe Starlink in the future" would make it a catastrophic bankrupting move.
